  • The klactgui utility has been developed to perform the following operations on a remote host: 

    The utility klacdtgui can perform the described functions for the application: 

      • Kaspersky Network Agent 5.0 and 6.0, installed 
        • from a usual installer
        • using MSI 
        • together with the Administration Server 
      • Kaspersky Administration Server 5.0 and 6.0 

     

      • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations (builds 5.0.225 - 5.0.712) 

     

      • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Workstations 

     

      • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows File Servers 

     

      • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers

    At present the utility can function only in one mode - Access through Microsoft Windows Network. To run the utility in this mode, do the following:

    1. Any operating system (except Windows 98 or Windows ME) should be installed on a remote target host.

    2. Ports TCP 139, TCP 445, UDP 137, UDP 138 should be opened on the remote target host.

    3. You should connect to the remote host under local administrator account of this remote host (access to Admin$ and the rights to create services are necessary)

    Warning Functionality restrictions: 

      • The application can be stopped only if the corresponding Service supports the stop command. Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations / Server supports the possibility to stop the service till version 6.0.3.837 (or above) and if the Administration Agent version 6.0.1572 (or above) is installed on a client computer.  

     

      • You can enable/disable trace of the applications with the enabled self-defense only if Administration Agent is installed on this remote host (agent need not be running).

    After download the data will be stored in the folder on the desktop of the computer from which the utility klacdtgui was started. This folder can be opened from the interface utility by clicking the link Downloads folder.

    HOW TO MANAGE THE UTILTY?

    1. Install the utility on the computer.

    For it unpack the downloaded archive and run the file klacdtgui_en.msi. The files of the utility are saved into the folder C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\klactgui. To delete the utility go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

    2. Run the utility via Start > All Programs > klactgui.

    3. To connect to the target computer in the main utility window:

    3.1. Choose the working mode Access through Microsoft Windows Network.

    Information The utility does not function In the mode Access through Kaspersky Administration Server yet!

    2. In the field Target computer enter name of the target computer from which you would like to gather information.

    3. Enter the account to connect to the target computer 

        • Connect as current user - you will connect under the current user account 

     

        • Connect using provided user name/password – you will connect under the given user account. If you choose this variant enter the name and password of the given account. 

    Warning You should connect under a local administrator account of the target computer!

     

     

    4. Once you have performed these actions click Logon.

    5. In the open window perform the necessary operations and download the necessary files.

    Information The utility saves files downloaded from the target computers on the Desktop of the computer from which it was started.

    Enabling/disabling trace, changing the trace level, downloading the trace file

    1. Connect to the target computer

    2. In the console tree select the application, for which you would like to generate trace and in the left part of the window click the link Turn on tracing …

     

    Warning Pay attention, that: 

      • Enabling/disabling the trace for the application with the enabled self-defense is able only if the Administration Agent is installed (it need not be running) 

     

      • Sometimes to enable tracing for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 the product/ corresponding task should be restarted. The Anti-Virus can be exited via Kaspersky Administration Kit (properties of a client computer > the Applications tab), and it can be started via the utility: with the disabled Anti-Virus in the left part of the window the link Start Product appears.

    3. Once the trace is enabled trace files start appearing as its sub-points. Select the necessary file to download it and in the left part of the window click Acquire file to download the whole file. In most files you have the possibility to download only the last trace parts.

     

    Selected files can be deleted as well. But files can be deleted only after the tracing is stopped.

     4. In order to disable the trace select the application and in the left part of the window click Turn off tracing.

    Downloading application settings/ application dumps, uploading and starting any utilities; downloading utility results

    1. Connect to the target computer.

    2. In the console tree select the computer name and in the left part of the window click 

      • Acquire Settings... – to download settings of the Kaspersky Lab application installed on this computer. 

     

      • Execute command... – to upload and start on the target computer the selected utility and to download the utility results 

     

      • Make dump... – to generate and to download the dump of the selected application.

    Downloading system information (by GetSystemInfo report utility)

    1. Connect to the necessary computer.

    2. In the console tree highlight the computer name and in the right part of the console click the link Acquire system information.

    Downloading Event Log

    1. Connect to the target computer.

    2. In the console tree select the necessary Event Log and in the left part of the window click Acquire.

    Starting the utility klnagchk and downloading its results

    1. Connect to the target computer

    2. In the console tree select Kaspersky Network Agent and in the left part of the window click Execute diagnostics.

     

    3. Download the diagnostics report once it is generated.

    Stopping and starting the application

    Warning The application can be stopped only if the corresponding service supports the stop command. Particularly, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations does not support the stop command.

    1. Connect to the target computer.

    2. In the console tree select the necessary application and in the left part of the window click the link

      • Stop Product – to stop the application. 
      • Restart Product – to restart the application. 
      • Start Product – to start the application.
