Concerning to Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 MP1
The klnagchk.exe utility has been developed to analyze the connection parameters of the Administration Agent with the Administration Server. The utility should be used on the clients where there are problems when connecting to the Administration Server. The utility allows defining the parameters used by the Administration Agent when connecting to the Administration Server and to make the simplest diagnostics.
The utility is added to the Administration Agent distributive and after local installation of the Agent it is located in its setup directory ([system disc]:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\NetworkAgent ). The utility is delivered in two variants
- klnagchk.exe – to be launched on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003
- klngch9x.exe – to be launched on Windows 98/Me
One utility can be installed on a PC (depending on the OS deployed).
The utility should be launched from the Administration Agent setup directory ([system disc]:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\NetworkAgent ) under the local administrator rights. The utility won't run from another folder as it does not have access to the Administration Agent libraries. It is recommended that you output results of its work in the log file.
The following parameters of the command line can be used when running the utility:
-logfile LOGFILE - log all information in the report file LOGFILE, by default the information is displayed on the screen.
-sp – display the password (to access proxy servers), by default the password is not displayed.
-savecert CERTFILE – save in the CERTFILE file the certificate used by the Administration agent when connecting to the Administration server
-restart – restart Administration Agent after the utility work is finished
After the utility has been run, it addresses to the configuration files of the Administration agent and displays the connection parameters
- Server address – the address of the Administration server
- Use SSL – depending on whether a safe connection to the Administration Server is used has the values 0 or 1
- Server SSL ports – the numbers of the available ports to connect to the Administration server, by secure connection usually only one port is available
- Server ports - the numbers of the available ports to connect to the Administration server, by common (not safe) connection usually only one port is available
- Certificate – if the client has the certificate of the Administration server. In case the Administration agent had no successful connection to the Administration server there may be no certificate and the value may be 1 or 0.
- Use proxy – if a proxy-server is used possible value is 1 or 0.
- Proxy location – the address and the port of the proxy-server through the colon
- Proxy login – user's name to get access to the proxy-server
- Proxy password – password to get access to the proxy-server is displayed only when using the –sp parameter.
- Open UPD port – if the Administration agent uses the UPD port to get the inquiries about synchronization from the Administration server
- UDP ports – numbers of the UDP ports that can be used by the Administration agent
- Ping period – standard interval between synchronization in seconds.
- Conn timeout – timeout of the connection
- RW timeout – timeout of the operations Read-Write
After it the utility tries to find out if the Administration server is available and tries to connect it, using the Administration agent settings. If the Administration server is not available, depending on the usage of the proxy server the utility sends the ICMP PING inquiry to the address of the proxy-server or to the Administration server, displaying the inquiry results.
When the utility is installed on the computer with the Administration server then instead of connecting to it the utility inquires that the server is installed locally.
Irrespective how successful the connection with the Administration server is the utility tries to find out whether the Administration agent is installed. If the Administration agent service is not installed the utility finishes its work. If the Administration agent is installed the utility displays the connection statistics:
- Ping count – amount of attempts to connect the Administration server
- Succ. pings – amount of successful attempts to connect
- Sync count – amount of attempts to synchronize
- Succ. syncs – amount of successful synchronizations
- Last ping – date and time of the last connection
