Remote installation failed on the host: Setup process error: 1607 (Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime)

   If during the installation process of Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0 for Win Workstations, Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0 for Win file servers, Kaspersky Administration Kit 5.0 or Kaspersky MSDE there is an installation error: Remote installation failed on the host: Setup process error: 1607 (Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime to solve the problem you should do the following for it:

  • Download IsScript.zip patch archive: http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q108158/IsScript7.zip
  • Unpack the downloaded archive
  • Start isscript.msi on the computer where you have the problem
  • Restart installation of Kaspersky Lab program product which caused the problem

    If after isscript.msi patch installation the error has not disappeared then it might be caused by some reasons connected with this machine only:

  • if the installation is done from SUBST disc
  • IDriver.exe file is registered not correctly
  • you do not have enough rights to record into \Installer file
  • installation was performed under user's account without local administrator rights
  • msiexec.exe has already been started

    In this case to solve the problem you should do the following:

  • Enter the system under the account with local administrator rights and repeat the installation
  • Reinstall InstallScript by launching ISScript file e.g. from Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0 for Win workstations distribution kit
  • Do not use SUBST discs to install the product
  • Register IDriver.exe and msiexec.exe:

    [PROGRAMFILES]\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\7\Intel 32\IDriver.exe /REGSERVER
    [WINDOWSFOLDER]\System32\msiexec.exe /REGSERVER
