Kaspersky Lab, an international data-security software-development company, has been awarded "The Best Buy" by Consumers' Association (UK).

In the November issue of "Which?" magazine, published by Consumers' Association, product tests were presented regarding the leading anti-virus software companies. Together in the competition with Kaspersky Lab were McAfee, Symantec, Norman and several other companies. In the process of choosing "The Best Buy," the editorial board of Consumers' Association considered the following: virus detection level, performance, speed, ease-of-installation and use, and value-for-money.

For all-round protection, Consumers' Association has recommended Kaspersky^TM Anti-Virus (AVP) Platinum and has presented it with the "The Best Buy" award. In addition to the high rate of virus detection, ease-of-installation and use, comprehensive technical support as well as a unique virus encyclopedia were cited.

The November issue of Polish magazine "Enter" has also published the results of anti-virus software testing. The Spanish IT magazine "PC Plus" Names the Best Anti-Virus Products of the Year.

This time, the competitor list included AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP), Command AntiVirus, eSafe, F-Secure Anti-Virus, InoculateIT, McAfee VirusScan, Norman Virus Control, Panda Antivirus, Sophos Anti-Virus, and Norton AntiVirus.

In the final tally, AVP again has proved to be the best product providing unbeatable virus protection. The editors at the German magazine Internet Magazin have included Kaspersky Anti-Virus among the best programs for the Internet. The magazine noted the high quality and excellent program features, with the editors bestowing upon Kaspersky Anti-Virus a maximum score of 5 points.

In August 2000, the German computer magazine for home users, Computer Easy, presented Kaspersky Anti-Virus with the "Editor's Choice" award for outstanding incomparable quality in the search and neutralization of viruses.

AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP) for Windows operating system took first place in the comparative review, carried out in July 2000 by the European centre for information security "Secusys" (www.secusys.com).

Among the other anti-virus products featured in the review were, Grisoft AVG, Dr.Web, F-Secure Anti-Virus, CA InoculateIT, ESET NOD32, Norton AntiVirus, Panda Antivirus Platinum, Trend Micro PC-Cillin, Sophos Anti-Virus, Norman Virus Cleaner and McAfee VirusScan.

In the final results of the test AVP was rated the absolute winner, sweeping all of its competitors aside. Kaspersky's famous virus hunter is the only product to show a 100% result in detecting computer viruses and other malicious mobile code in 14 out of 17 of the existing categories, which include DOS, Windows, macro, script, Linux, batch, Java viruses, Trojans, Backdoors and Internet worms. In the other 3 categories, AVP also performed impressively, scoring an outstanding 99% and 99,99% detection rate.

The most popular Spanish computer magazine PC ACTUAL published the results of an extensive comparison of 30 anti-virus products from all over the world. According to the summary, AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP) was rated as one of the best and recommended for PC ACTUAL readers.

The comparison consisted of two stages. At the first stage, PC ACTUAL labs tested the general level of anti-virus protection against different types of computer mailware. This was the point where the weakest products, which didn't meet the high standards of the anti-virus industry, were separated. Among them were Norton AntiVirus, PC-Cillin, Sophos Anti-Virus, CA InoculateIT, Frisk F-Prot, Norman Virus Control, and Aladdin eSafe. At the second stage, the labs tested other features for their ability to search for viruses inside archived files, the effectiveness of built-in heuristics to combat against unknown viruses, the quality of technical support, integration with the Internet, price etc.

Kaspersky Lab AntiViral Toolkit Pro wins the PC World anti-virus comparative test for the second consecutive time.
In issue #165, May 2000, the Spanish Edition of PC World (www.idg.es/pcworld/) published the results of a comparative test of the most popular anti-virus products in Spain. According to the aggregate indicator the absolute winner was Kaspersky Lab AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP).

Comparative tests were based on estimating the following characteristics of anti-virus products: protection against different types of malicious code (including viruses, worms and Trojan Horses), functionality, quality of technical support, price, ease of use etc. According to the aggregate indicator AVP showed the best result scoring 8.3 out of 10 points. AVP outclassed every other anti-virus in the test including McAfee VirusScan (8.0 points), Panda Antivirus (8.0), Trend Micro PC-Cillin (7.5), F-Secure Anti-Virus (7.3), Sophos Anti-Virus (7.0) and Norton AntiVirus (7.0).

In result of a comparative test carried out in the beginning of March by one of the most authoritative German computer magazine PC WELT (www.pcwelt.de), Kaspersky Lab's AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP) was rated one of the best anti-virus product available.

PC WELT focused its attention on testing the following features: virus detection and disinfection rate of anti-virus scanner (on-demand scanner) and anti-virus monitor (on-access scanner), ability for virus search inside archived and packed files as well as scanning speed.

According to a cumulative summary AVP achieved the best results, outrunning such competitors as Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan, Sophos Anti-Virus, PC Cillin, Panda AntiVirus, InoculateIT, Norman Virus Control, Aladdin eSafe, Command AntiVirus and other.

In result of comparative tests of 9 anti-virus products the Romanian edition of the popular international computer publication CHIP rated AVP absolutely the best anti-virus solution available. Among other competitors were AntiVirus eXpert, CA InoculateIT, F-Secure Anti-Virus, McAfee VirusScan, Norman Virus Control, Norton AntiVirus, Panda Antivirus and GeCAD's Romanian Antivirus. It is of a great importance to note that the second place took F-Secure AntiVirus, which is powered by outstanding AVP anti-virus engine. All other competitors were left far behind.
