Kaspersky Security for Mobile… including MDM

With more employees needing to access corporate data via mobile devices, how do you counter the new security risks and management challenges that mobile access brings?  Kaspersky can help you to boost security and enable BYOD.

Benefits

Kaspersky Security for Mobile combines powerful protection technologies and extensive mobile device management (MDM) functionality – in one, tightly integrated solution that delivers rigorous, multi-layer security and far-reaching management capabilities.

  • Easy to configure… deploy… and manage
It’s preconfigured – ready to start protecting your business as soon as you install it – and you can easily change settings or configurations to suit your specific needs.  All of the MDM functionality is integrated into Kaspersky Security Center – so you can control all of your Kaspersky protection technologies from a single, unified management console.
  • Multi-platform capability – for business-wide BYOD
With support for Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Symbian, Kaspersky Security for Mobile can help you to implement a thorough mobile security policy across multiple platforms* – and help you to roll out a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative, without compromising on protection for your business.

*Not all features are available for some of the supported mobile platforms.

Features

Anti-malware

Kaspersky Security for Mobile combines signature-based anti-malware technologies, heuristic analysis and cloud-assisted services – to deliver stronger defences against viruses and other threats.

  • Rigorous anti-malware protection for mobile devices
Kaspersky Security for Mobile defends against viruses, spyware, Trojans, worms, bots and a wide range of other threats.
  • The latest anti-malware – with automatic updates
Anti-malware updates are automatically delivered to mobile devices Over the Air (OTA) – from the cloud-based Kaspersky Security Network (KSN). Malware scans can be performed on demand or to your own schedule.
  • Safe Browser for iOS
The Kaspersky Security Network also provides cloud-assisted technology to block malicious and fraudulent websites – including phishing websites.
  • Anti-Spam – with automatic filtering
Unwanted calls and SMS messages can be automatically filtered out (not applicable to iOS).

Application Control

For Android devices, Kaspersky Security for Mobile lets you set policies for controlling the launch of applications.

  • Allow or deny any application
    • Default Allow – lets any application run on the user’s device, unless that application has been blacklisted
    • Default Deny – blocks all applications apart from those that are allowed / whitelisted
    • List of mandatory applications – helps to ensure each employee’s mobile device contains all of the security and application software that your business mandates
If there is an attempt to violate your security policy settings, an application may be allowed to run – but the device can be blocked from accessing corporate data. So any ‘rogue’ device that fails to comply with your security policy is limited to personal use.
  • Rooting / Jailbreak detection
Kaspersky Security for Mobile effectively detects rooting / jailbreak incidents and alerts both the device user and the administrator – so that you can block access to containerised applications and perform a selective or total data wipe on the device.

Encryption

Kaspersky Security for Mobile also includes powerful encryption technologies – to help prevent your business data falling into the wrong hands.

  • Choice of encryption methods
    • Full disk encryption (for iOS devices) – lets you encrypt an entire partition or disk
    • External storage encryption (or file / folder level encryption – FLE) – lets you encrypt separate files and folders

Containerisation

Kaspersky Security for Mobile lets you separate corporate data and personal data on the user’s device.  By setting up a special container for corporate applications, you can ensure all corporate data on the device is encrypted and you can even prevent corporate data from leaving the container – for a more secure BYOD strategy.

Application Container Settings
Flexible settings for containers let you:
  • Manage application data encryption, within the container
  • Manage an application’s access to device resources – including the SMS channel, camera, GPS, network access and file system access
  • Restrict access to data
  • Application inactivity control
You can define log in criteria, so that applications automatically force the user to log in again after a specified period of inactivity.  This helps to prevent other people accessing corporate applications when an employee-owned device is unattended in the family home or another location.
  • Encryption for containers
An automatic data encryption process – that is totally transparent to the user – encrypts data before it leaves the container that has been set up within the mobile device.
  • Troubleshooting
The troubleshooting feature allows administrators to investigate issues and ensure corporate applications are working correctly on a mobile device – for a more rapid reaction to problems.
  • Anti-Spam – with automatic filtering
Unwanted calls and SMS messages can be automatically filtered out (not applicable to iOS).

Anti-theft

If a mobile device is lost or stolen, Kaspersky Security for Mobile can help you to lock it, locate it and delete corporate data from it – even if its SIM card has been changed.

  • Remote Lock
To prevent unauthorised access to data or applications, you only need to send a Lock command to the missing device. You can even display a message on the locked device – to help encourage the return of the device.
  • Find
Kaspersky’s Find function provides the approximate location of a missing mobile device – using GPS, GSM and Wi-Fi connections and a Google Map link that shows the lost device's location.
  • Remote Wipe – cleans all data from the device
If you're unsure whether you’re going to be able to recover a missing device, you can select from options that can remotely wipe data from the device.
    • Selective wipe – lets you wipe corporate data, without wiping the user’s personal data
    • Device reset – deletes all information and returns the device to its default factory settings
  • SIM Watch
If a new SIM card is placed in the missing device, SIM Watch immediately blocks the device and sends you a message with the device’s new telephone number – so you can then use the Lock, Find and Wipe functions.

Mobile Device Management (MDM)

In addition to world-class security technologies, Kaspersky Security for Mobile also includes far-reaching Mobile Device Management features – so you can benefit from simplified, centralised control over your mobile security.

  • Preconfigured installer automates and simplifies deployment
Kaspersky’s MDM functionality lets you customise and preconfigure mobile endpoint security applications – or the iOS security profile – based on your corporate policies. After you’ve set your chosen policies and settings, an installation package is automatically generated – ready for you to distribute via SMS / email or onto the user’s PC.
  • Deliver security applications Over the Air (OTA)
Over the Air (OTA) provisioning lets you remotely deploy Kaspersky security software or iOS security profiles – together with your corporate applications – to users’ mobile devices. Simply send an SMS or email to each user and, when the user clicks on the embedded link, the software can be installed. Alternatively, the necessary software can be distributed to the user’s PC, ready for download to their mobile device.
  • Monitor deployment
You can track deployment on each device – so you can deny access to corporate data for any users that have not clicked on the link to download the applications to their mobile.
  • Works with Active Directory
Integration with Active Directory lets you set different policies – based on individual job roles or the needs of specific groups.
  • Supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
All Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync settings can be configured from Kaspersky MDM.
  • Configuration backup and restore
If a device somehow loses your configured settings, the backup and restore feature means your corporate configuration settings can be quickly and easily restored.
