The Minol Group uses Kaspersky Lab's solutions to protect customer information

Even if a company has never had a problem with a virus or had to battle contemporary cyber threats, it may feel compelled to continue to be on the lookout for better performing antivirus solutions. This may be prompted by many reasons, including the functional range of the antivirus solution may no longer fulfill its capacity, the cost may be too high, or its administration may no longer be practical. Now is the right time to look for a new, more appropriate, and, of course, safe solution.

The Challenge:

This was the initial situation at the Minol Group, a service and production company that arranged the billing for water and heating usage. This company also produces instruments which are necessary to collect this information. The Minol Group has its headquarters in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart and together with its agencies abroad, employs over 1,600 individuals. It is absolutely necessary for a company that is trusted with sensitive billing information for over 1.3 million households across Germany to have an efficient and high-quality protection from today’s malware. The company found the program they were looking for in Kaspersky Lab's product. They came to this decision after three months of research, in which different providers were dropped from consideration due to the price-to-benefit ratio, high memory usage, problems during the trial period or substandard technical support. Kaspersky Lab had already left a good impression with Minol. Two years ago, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for SMTP Gateways was tested on two Linux servers used for email traffic. Its newest solution was recommended to them by their computer retailer Bucker EDV.

The Solution:

Since October 2006, 600 PCs and 60 servers have been protected by Kaspersky Anti-Virus. The program has been running to the full satisfaction of the company’s IT administrators and users after initial improvements were made.

Protected systems:
  • 600 PCs running MS Windows 2000 and Windows XP
  • 60 file servers running MS Windows 2000 and Windows XP
  • 2 Microsoft Exchange servers
  • 1 Microsoft ISA Server
Kaspersky Lab Solutions Installed:
  • Kaspersky Administration Kit
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Workstation 5.0
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows File Server 5.0
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange 5.5
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Microsoft ISA Server 5.5

Conclusion:

“The efficiency and user friendliness of the Kaspersky Lab solution have totally convinced us,” said Joachim Feudenmann, system administrator for the Minol Group. “Employee training was not needed, since the entire system is centrally controlled from an administrative console. This saves time and money.”
