The Company
Since its foundation in 1945, the French National Institute of Sport and Physical Education (INSEP), under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, has been offering it services to top French and foreign sportsmen and women. INSEP provides athletes with the optimum conditions for combining training and study. Thanks to the success of its athletes at the Olympic Games, it has earned itself an international reputation, which has enabled it to develop international exchanges with about forty countries.
The challenge
In 2005, INSEP started its distance education project. The project included making educational information available to over 2000 of the Institute's students and teachers. Implementing the project required considerable initial investments, and a lot of planning was necessary to determine how to execute the project, including the development of the educational program, licensing, identification of parameters, technical support, individualization of the education process, location of working places, development of multimedia resources, access to public information, etc. Nearly 20 servers were installed to fulfill information request from the French sporting institutions (national federations, local Boards of sport etc.).
Due to the expansion, INSEP was faced the necessity of unifying its IT system. Naturally, it needed reliable protection from all types of IT threats. The main goals included securing the network from authorized access, and protecting all clients and server machines, taking into account the diversity of the platforms used (Microsoft, Linux, Exchange, ISA server, SMTP, smartphones and PDA).
The solution
From the very beginning Kaspersky Lab presale specialists were helping with the project. “Because of this, our Institute prefers Kaspersky Lab,” says the the project manager Eric Labouchet. Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange was installed by the Institute at the end of December 2006. In summer 2006, a system for automatic message forwarding (along with Kaspersky Exchange) and information data protection was launched. Kaspersky Lab software was used to provide complex protection of networks.
