Kaspersky Lab's Corporate Endpoint Security Products Earn VB100 Award
Kaspersky Lab announces that the beta version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition and the established Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers have both received VB100 awards following testing on a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server R2 platform.
During October 2010, the authoritative British magazine Virus Bulletin carried out extensive comparative testing that saw 38 popular antivirus products put through their paces, including both of the above Kaspersky Lab solutions.
The products had to detect and neutralize known and new malicious programs from several collections, including viruses and worms from WildList.org, as well as bots, Trojans and polymorphic malware. This time round, the WildList.org collection consisted of a record 14,000 samples. All the collections had been refreshed and included current malware samples. The products were also tested against an updated selection of clean files to assess their ability to minimize false positives.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers passed all of the tests with flying colors, earning both solutions a VB100 award. The products demonstrated WildList threat detection rates of 100% and high detection rates for the other malware collections, without generating a single false positive.
Virus Bulletin's experts were clearly impressed with the efficiency of the interface and the performance delivered by Kaspersky Lab's security solutions, commenting that "Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition's interface uses the MMC system, doing so in a pretty stylish and efficient manner, making good use of color and providing the full range of controls. Scanning speeds were superb".
