Kaspersky Lab releases an analytical article about fraud in online games

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, has released an article entitled "Online games and fraud: a source of easy money". The article is authored by Sergey Golovanov, a virus analyst with the company.
The article provides an overview of vulnerabilities within online games, methods used to steal confidential player data, and how this data can be protected. Golovanov examines what value online game passwords have for cyber criminals, and the three main methods used to steal these passwords: social engineering, exploiting game server vulnerabilities, and using malicious programs. The article also includes statistics on the volume and provenance of Trojan programs for online games, and figures which show which online games are the most popular targets.
