Kaspersky Lab Version 2009 Award-Winning Technology Available
In Over 1000 UK Software Destination & High Street Retail Stores Today
Kaspersky Lab, a leading provider of security solutions that protect against viruses, Trojans, worms, spyware, crimeware, rootkits, phishing, hacker attacks and spam, today announced that its consumer products are now available in over 1000 retail outlets across the UK, representing a growth of more than 80% in only 12 months. Today, Kaspersky® Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 are available in destination IT and high street stores and many more independent retailers.
Kaspersky Lab is globally the fastest growing security software vendor and in the UK has strengthened its position as the number two vendor and second most popular choice for Internet security. Furthermore, Kaspersky Lab has just launched its version 2009 home user products, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009, which are receiving all round positive user feedback and are already winning awards. During this time, the two previous leading brands have lost significant market share and other competitive brands have not gained market share.
Peter Duncombe, International Buying and UK Trading Director at PC World, one of the first retailers to stock Kaspersky Lab products comments, “We select the latest proven products from the market leading technology available today. With Kaspersky Lab’s award-winning products on our shelves we are able to provide our customers with what they need to ensure their laptops and PCs are safe from viruses, hackers and spam.”
Simon Geach, Sales Director UK & Ireland with Kaspersky Lab comments, “At this time last year we had just launched in PC World. Our sales have gone from strength to strength and today, our new Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 home user products are on the shelves of over 1000 stores and we are increasing our presence and market share by continuing to provide solutions designed for the consumer.”
“The risk of identity theft and fraud continue to be high on the news agenda. 2008 forecasts predict that phishing attacks on social networking sites such as Facebook, Bebo, MySpace and Twitter will be a real threat”, comments David Emm, Senior Technology Consultant with Kaspersky Lab. He continues, “National Statistics (ONS) for September 2007 showed that 88.4 % of UK Internet users have access to broadband. According to a Kaspersky Lab survey, 57% of UK homes are wireless enabled.
Coupled with this, figures from APACS, the UK payments association, released on 24th July 2008, show that the number of adults using online banking has increased by 505% in the past seven years - from less than 3.5 million in 2000 to just over 21 million last year - and now represent over half of all Internet users.” “However”, Emm concludes, “Kaspersky Lab’s wireless Internet security survey results show that despite the known threats, only 35% of respondents to the survey have taken adequate measures to secure their wireless router and PC.”
