Juniper integrated antivirus and anti-spyware protection from a detection rate leader to combat malicious Internet attacks

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions that protect against viruses, worms, Trojans, hacker attacks, spyware and spam, and Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) announced today that the two companies have entered into an alliance to integrate precision antivirus and anti-spyware protection with Juniper's line of firewall/IPsec virtual private network (VPN) security appliances.

Under the agreement, Juniper's enterprise customers will now be able to leverage Kaspersky Lab's award-winning antivirus and anti-spyware technology via Juniper's firewall/VPNs, providing them with a complete threat management solution. Additionally, service providers utilizing Juniper's firewall/VPNs can deliver additional value-added managed security services (antivirus and anti-spyware) through the Kaspersky Lab and Juniper alliance to better protect their customers' networks.

“The rapid rise of malicious attacks demands that enterprises employ multiple security approaches, including precision malware protection, to secure their networks,” said Vitaly Bezrodnykh, business development director at Kaspersky Lab. “The augmentation of Juniper's security devices with our protection against viruses, Trojans, spyware and other Internet attacks will create an even more compelling solution of comprehensive protection for enterprises.”

“Our customers can now take advantage of the advanced threat prevention solutions the Juniper and Kaspersky Lab teams have created. Kaspersky Lab has a long-standing reputation for extremely quick response time to emerging threats, best-in-class detection rates and performance,” said Sanjay Beri, director of product management at Juniper Networks. “The integration of the Kaspersky Lab's antivirus and anti-spyware technology bolsters Juniper's Enterprise Infranet strategy by delivering an additional and necessary piece of threat control. When combined with our market-leading firewall, VPN and intrusion prevention products, this provides secured and assured perimeter defense solutions for our customers.”

Kaspersky Lab is known internationally for the speed of its response to new threats, along with hourly antivirus and anti-spyware updates and the globally recognized accuracy of its malware detection. Together with Juniper's comprehensive security devices, customers will be able to deploy enhanced defenses at the gateway, creating a comprehensive barrier against today's threats.

This integration with Kaspersky Anti-Virus delivers multiple benefits to Juniper's enterprise and managed security service provider customers, including:

  • Detection of a wide range of malicious content: viruses, worms, Trojans, backdoors, spyware, crimeware, rootkits, adware and other forms of malware;
  • A custom-built antivirus solution designed to effectively scan large volumes of network traffic, with hourly updates of pattern files to provide fast response to new viruses with low download traffic requirements; and
  • Malware detection in archived and compressed data with over 1,200 formats supported.

In addition to leveraging Juniper's best-in-class firewall/VPN appliances with integrated antivirus and anti-spyware capabilities from Kaspersky Lab, customers also benefit from Juniper's J-Security Center portal, a community site that provides the latest information on vulnerabilities and viruses. The J-Security Center is supported by Juniper's J-Security Research Lab group, which comprises in-house experts and multiple, best-in-class technology partners located across the globe, including Kaspersky Lab, to provide distributed coverage and up-to-date information about existing and emerging threats.
