Kaspersky Lab announced today that it is supplying its award wining anti-virus technology to Telewest Broadband to be used by its consumer internet division, blueyonder. The cable company will be using Kaspersky Lab's anti-virus technology to scan all incoming and outgoing emails to protect residential customers from the continued tide of email borne viruses.

The continued threat from email viruses has made the installation of a robust, highly efficient anti-virus solution an imperative for Telewest Broadband. The company provides internet services to over 900,000 homes in the UK so ensuring the best possible protection for their customers was a key factor in determining which solution would be used.

Chad Raube, director of product strategy and new product development at Telewest Broadband, explains, “We chose the anti-virus solution from Kaspersky Lab because it has an impressive detection rate and updates to the virus signature databases are available quickly after a new virus is discovered.”

Telewest Broadband is one of the UK's foremost consumer internet service providers and offers a wide range of services from internet connections to online content.

“The disruption caused by today's threats is immense, so it is very gratifying to see organisations like Telewest Broadband taking the initiative to protect their customers and take steps to reduce the level of malevolent email traffic on the internet. Of course we are pleased that Kaspersky Lab is providing them with the tools to let them to do this effectively,” comments Svetlana Ivanova, managing director of Kaspersky Lab UK.
